Caring for shoes made of genuine leather is an important aspect that allows you to preserve their beauty and durability for many years. To do this, certain rules and procedures must be followed.
The first step in caring for leather shoes is to remove dust and dirt daily. To do this, you can use a dry cloth or a damp cloth if the contamination is more severe. It is also recommended to use mold supports, such as inserts or padding, to properly dry shoes at room temperature.
To refresh the color and add shine to leather shoes, you can apply a thin layer of colored or colorless shoe polish to them. This will help protect your shoes from environmental influences and give them a new look.
It is important to note that shoes with suede, velor or nubuck uppers require special care. These materials can only be cleaned when dry. To remove dust and dirt, use a special eraser, which after use makes the surface evenly fluffy. To clean and comb such shoes, it is recommended to use crepe brushes, and for shiny suede, you can use a brush with metal bristles. For daily care and color refreshing, it is also recommended to use a special spray that protects these materials from moisture and dirt.
Patent leather requires a special approach. After use, such shoes should be cleaned with a damp cloth and wiped dry. To add shine, you can wipe the varnish surface with a piece of cloth soaked in linseed oil and rub it until shiny with a woolen rag. It is also worth remembering that patent leather shoes do not tolerate low temperatures.
Shoes made from synthetic materials also require some kind of care. To remove dust and dirt, simply wipe it with a slightly damp cloth and dry it at room temperature. However, please note that faux leather shoes do not need to be treated with water-repellent sprays.
When using shoes, it is also important to observe certain conditions. Wet shoes should be dried at room temperature, avoiding direct sources of heat and sunlight. To put on shoes, you can use a horn or a spoon so as not to damage the heel part. You should also be careful with decorative fittings and not pull on straps or elastic bands. When walking on gravel, crushed stone, as well as on snowy, wet or salt-treated surfaces, it is recommended to avoid dress shoes. You should handle decorative fittings with care and avoid pulling laces around the ankle.
Thanks to these recommendations and rules, you can keep your shoes in perfect condition and enjoy their beauty and comfort for a long time.
